Leah McGrath on Her Experience & Why She is Running

Dear Friends,

With the election coming up on June 2nd, I wanted to introduce myself to you and ask for your vote!

I grew up in nearby Pendleton, Indiana and have lived in or near House District 88 since graduating from Purdue University almost 20 years ago. Since that time, I have been fortunate to enjoy a fulfilling career journey while always finding ways to give back to my community.

I have worked with inspiring people to make our community a better place for all of us. Some of the initiatives I am most proud to have worked on include increasing disability awareness, the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, and modernizing local government.

I currently serve as vice president for a local technology company. Prior to that, I served as Deputy Mayor for the City of Fishers with Mayor Scott Fadness from 2015-2019, as we transitioned and transformed from a town to a city. I have also owned a small business and have been active in advancing public policy for Indiana throughout my career.

My husband Brian and I have been blessed with three sons, ages 15, 13 and 11. We made the decision to enter this race as a family. As we contemplated this campaign, we came to realize that the experiences I have been afforded in business, in government, and as an active part of our community have prepared me in a unique way to represent you at the Statehouse.

Why I am running:  Even before COVID-19, I felt a sense of urgency and opportunity for our state to ensure Indiana and the people here are positioned and well prepared to compete for the next 20 years in a changing global economy. Today, that goal is even more important.

In Indiana, we are fortunate to have had a legacy of leadership that has built a strong fiscal foundation. Six months ago, I thought that solid foundation meant that we had an opportunity to be creative and innovative in re-imagining how state government works for the people it serves. Today, with falling revenues and a pandemic, that idea of innovation is no longer just an opportunity – it is a necessity. We must continue the same responsible fiscal management as we  innovate our way through this time and cut red tape to reduce administrative burden on businesses and families.

My experiences in the private and public sector have prepared me for the task ahead, and I am ready to get to work for our future. That is why I am running for State Representative.

I will approach problem-solving with an entrepreneurial spirit and govern with conservative Republican values based on the enduring principles of the free market and individual liberty. I will defend our inherent freedoms and continue to uphold and progress this great idea that is America.

My husband and I have had a great life here in Indiana. I am running for State Representative so that we can make sure our kids and all of our youth have those same opportunities.

I will work hard for you and for our future, and I would be honored to have your support. Thank you for your consideration, and may God bless you and your family during this time and always.

Sincerely,

Leah McGrath
Republican Candidate for State Representative
